In the various types of monitoring (infrared, laser, etc.) devices, the transmitter, which emits the light beam actively, almost uses a lens. In order to reduce the size of the transmitter and obtain good light gathering, a shorter focal length of this lens and high image quality are required. Therefore the aspherical lens is generally used. This lens is one example. Its parameters are as follows:

Outside diameter(OD) ø=8mm Effective aperture D0=5.4mm  
Center thickness=5.8mm Edge thickness=1.2mm  

Focal length f'=7.661mm

Front intercept sf=-7.661mm

Back intercept sf'=5.65mm
